Chef Andrew ‘Drew’ Rogers, is the Pastry Chef and owner of Drew’s Pastry Place, a unique bakery and favorite dessert place in northwest Houston at 10300 Louetta Rd. Drew’s offers bagels from New York, specially-blended coffee recipes, piles of brightly colored pastries, mouth-watering desserts including his signature Italian cream cake, Tiramisu, Cannoli, cheesecake, Italian cookies, créme brulee and much more.
Chef ‘Drew’ grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, in an Italian family where the love of food and desserts was a big part of everyday life. Growing up learning to cook and make the traditional Italian desserts helped to develop his skill and artistry which has served him well in his journey.
In 2004, at age 40, Drew’s wife asked him a simple question: “If time and money were no object, what would you do?” Since his passion was to cook and bake, having grown up in an Italian Family, his answer was to the point: “I’d be a Pastry Chef.”
Turning his “passion into a profession”, the married father of two embarked upon a mid-life career change (from marketing & advertising) to follow his dream by attending the Culinary School of Alain and Marie LeNotre and become a Pastry Chef in 2005. Upon graduating, he began his new career at Houston Country Club under Master Chef Fritz Gitschner. A few years later, after helping a friend launch a new bakery, Drew and family finally embarked upon their own dream – New York style bakery with a flair of southern hospitality & charm was launched in Northwest Houston!
In 2009, Drew’s Pastry Place won top honors in CitySearch’s 2009-2010 “Best of” bakery for coffee, bagels, cheesecake and wedding cakes. In 2011, Drew’s won Best Bakery in Houston’s “A-List” Awards.
In early 2014, Drew & family were featured in an episode of TLC’s new reality show “Bakery Boss”, with Cake Boss, Buddy Valastro. Buddy gave Drew high marks for his cannolis and tiramisu (a score of 9 out of 10) however he challenged Drew to offer more southern & popular items such as cupcakes. After an initial resistance, Drew had a breakthrough and ended up innovating his own – and “Drew’s Cannoli Cupcake” was born. Now offered in vanilla & chocolate, Drew’s Cannoli Cupcake has a registered trademark and is one of his most popular items in the bakery.
